7 mysterious natural phenomena that have no explanation
Sometimes it seems that the closer we are to the solution, the more complex puzzles we toss nature. And often the best minds of mankind fight over the solution of this or that question, but they can not explain the mysterious phenomena occurring in different parts of the world. We have collected the most strange and unusual phenomena that have driven to a standstill more than one generation of scientists.
Giant stone heads
Moai, or the idols of Easter island, are giant stone heads that appeared out of nowhere and it is not clear for what purpose they were used. Just on the island in the South Pacific ocean, owned by Chile, is 997 statues with a height of five to seven meters. And some of them are scattered in a chaotic manner, and others are built in orderly rows. There is a hypothesis that the ancient inhabitants of the island thus honored the memory of dead ancestors, but these assumptions have not been confirmed.
The Nazca Lines
The Nazca lines, which are not just doodles, but real works of art, are drawn on the sand in Peru by ancient people, but no one knows why it was done. On the Peruvian plains there are geometric shapes and images of animals, people or plants. Rare style, reminiscent of something cosmic and alien. Archaeologists have suggested that these lines, the so-called geoglyphs, were part of the astronomical calendar, but then denied his version.
Stones in the Valley of Death, which slide on the ground under the influence of a mysterious force, also attract the attention of scientists from around the world. All this action takes place in the area of Racetrack Playa in Death Valley, California and continues all the time, yet no one sees. Geologists have tried to trace 30 stones weighing up to 25 kilograms and found that 28 of them in seven years have moved more than 200 meters. They were also able to calculate the speed of the stones and the time of year when the stones moved more actively. It turned out that they mostly moved in the winter and the speed of such movement was about 1 meter per second.
“Eye Of The Sahara»
The Rishat structure (better known as the “Eye of the Sahara”) is a unique geological formation with a diameter of about 50 meters, which appeared in the middle of the hottest desert in the world. This formation, casting all shades of blue, really resembles the human eye and still haunts many scientists. It was assumed that the structure appeared as a result of the fall of a meteorite, and according to another version — is the top of a long extinct volcano. Whatever it was, but still people have not been able to explain the origin of the mysterious “Eye”.
The giant stone balls of Costa Rica also haunt the luminaries of science. And still it remains unclear why the ancient people inhabiting this land, it was necessary to create more than a hundred balls of stone, many of which reached about two meters in diameter. Many hypotheses have been put forward, up to the extinct civilizations and extraterrestrial beings, but none of them has not been confirmed.
This lake was discovered back in 1802 in one of the Australian deserts — and since then, scientists have unsuccessfully trying to figure out what it paints its water in a rich pink color. The most logical thing is that it is influenced by some bacteria, algae or microorganisms, but repeated analyses of water showed that there is nothing like that in the pond. Some skeptics even tried to claim that it was all an illusion and another optical illusion, but calmed down immediately after trying to collect water from this lake in glass bottles and made sure that its shade is really unusual.
Fireballs appearing in the sky during a thunderstorm, too, do not leave indifferent hundreds of people. Among them are those who consider this phenomenon a common myth, because many have never been able to see something like this. However, some eyewitnesses claim that ball lightning, which is a luminous sphere, really appear during a thunderstorm, and can also pass through the glass or chimney.
